DA: Don't seal Bryant records

By News Wire Services
September 22, 2004

Mark Hurlbert, the district attorney prosecuting the now defunct sexual-assault case against basketball star Kobe Bryant, asked the judge not to seal court records, as Bryant's lawyers have asked, because such secrecy could create public mistrust of the justice system.

Bryant was charged with assaulting a woman in a Colorado hotel in June 2003, but the charge was dropped this month after the woman said she would no longer participate in the prosecution.
